Printed Playsuits

Saturday 26 April 2014

I absolutely adore playsuits not just for there versatility of being able to be dressed up for a night out or dressed down for a more casual look but because they are just super cute! The minute I laid eyes on this playsuit I was absolutely mesmerised and knew it had to come home with me. The colours in this one piece work perfectly together to create a stunning outfit that catches your eye and draws your focus to this mysterious graphic print. It is a statement on its own so I kept things simple with beige heels and clutch that dress up the outfit and give an elegant feel to the look without detracting from the main event. I also added a gold metal plated belt to brake up the colour block print and give a little structure to the playsuit.

Textured Prints

Friday 18 April 2014

Happy Easter long weekend my lovely ladies, I have had an amazing start to my four day weekend with beautiful sunny weather! This morning we headed down to our local lake to capture some shots of one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe at the moment. This beautiful textured graphic print skirt from Mink Pink has received an abundance of compliments every time I have worn it out so of course I had to share it with you guys. I paired it with a light weight long sleeve blouse from Bardot to brighten up the look without detracting from the main event, the skirt. I wanted to keep the look classic and simple by adding a black bag and boots with gold details.

The Perfect Nude Lip Combo

Wednesday 16 April 2014

I have been sporting this lip combo everyday for the past couple of weeks and I'm still completely obsessed with it! (Which might I add doesn't happen to often as I like to change up my routine regularly). It is a difficult task finding that perfect nude shade that doesn't completely wash you out. I tend to lean towards nudes that have pink undertones as I find that this is what is most complementary to my skin tone. I have had this Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 03 for quite sometime now and never really took much notice of it as i am a big fan of my bright lips. Until one day a couple weeks back I whacked this on my lips and have been wearing it ever since! I work in an office environment on a day to day basis and although I love to wear those out there lip colours it's just not practical however I have found my solution. It starts with a lipstick and ends with a gloss.

The Rimmel lipstick is a gorgeous pinky nude shade with no shimmer (extra brownie points from me) but still gives off a beautiful sheen look. It is a creamy formula that sits and wears very well on the lips and could definatly be worn on it's own to complete a dramatic eyelook or like me an everyday makeup look. Although sometimes I feel as though a nude needs that extra something by adding a gloss. For me that is the NYX Butter Lipgloss in Creme Brullee which I can't get enough of. These glosses are better than you could imagine, they produce brilliant colour pay off, glide on seamlessly without the added heaviness or stickiness some glosses contain (which I personally dislike) and if that isn't enough for you, give off the most delicious smell (a sort of candy like smell). These two products mixed together make for a match made in heaven and creates a girly yet still sophisticated look for any girl to rock.

What are some of your favourite nude lipsticks?

Stripes & Tartan

Sunday 13 April 2014

I put this outfit together last weekend to shoot however unfortunately ran out of time but it may have been a blessing in disguise. This morning was a dreary overcast day perfect to capture a few snaps before the rain set in for the day. I bought this crop a few weeks back but have been waiting for the cooler weather to begin before styling this piece. I can't get enough of the black and white striped trend and am absolutely obsessed with this look especially for winter. By pairing this top with all black pieces forces this top to become the focal point of this outfit however I added a dash of tartan on my bag to provide a slight contrast. I have to give a special mention to these Sportsgirl boots that are not only eye-catching but the most comfortable shoes I have put on my feet. I had so much fun creating and shooting this look today, I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did :)

Sweet Potato Salad

Wednesday 9 April 2014

Hello beauties, I know this isn't my usual type of post however I hope to incorporate more food related posts with you to share my love for food! I try to live a healthy lifestyle by keeping active and eating a well balanced diet. I eat 80% clean so I am able to indulge on those naughty treats and not feel so bad as I have a gigantic sweet tooth! This recipe is something I came up with about a week ago when I was trying to think of what I could have for dinner. I was after something packed with goodness but also bursting with flavours. I have become obsessed with sweet potato as I have come of age and wanted to make a change from the traditional Pumpkin, Beetroot and Feta Salad by substituting sweet potato for pumpkin and adding my own little touch. I loved it so much I cooked it again a few days ago for my mum and dad (just to make sure it wasn't my biased opinion) and was given the thumbs up :)

So here is what you will need:

Salad:
Sweet Potato
Leafy Greens (I used spinach)
Tomato
Capsicum
Corn
Mixed Beans (I used Chickpeas, Red Kidney Beans,
Lima Beans, Great Northern Beans, Borlotti Beans)
Feta
Beetroot
Avocado
Red Onion

Sweet Potato Seasoning:
1 tbls Olive Oil
Tuscan Seasoning
Salt & Pepper

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees celsius. Start by peeling your Sweet Potatoes (I used 2 sweet potatoes for the 3 people) and chop up into 1 to 1.5 inch pieces. Once this is done place in a large bowl ready to be seasoned.

Add in your olive oil, tuscan seasoning and salt and pepper. Use your hands to mix making sure that every piece is evenly coated. Place on a baking tray and put in the oven to roast for 30-40 minutes or until golden on the edges.

While the sweet potato is in the oven you can get started on the rest of the salad. Chop up your tomatoes, capsicum, onion, beetroot, avocado and feta and toss into the bowl with the rest of the ingredients.

Once your sweet potatoes are ready take them out of the oven and cool for a couple of minutes. Add them to the salad and voilĂ  your dinner is ready to be enjoyed!

This is an extremely fast and simple recipe with room to experiment, by adding or changing certain ingredients. I'd like to find a complimenting dressing (even though I don't feel it is necessary) and perhaps try this with roast beets instead of fresh. You could also add in a meat of your choice if your not up for an all out vegetarian meal.

I hope you have enjoyed something a little different and let me know if you try it, I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback :)

A White Wash

Sunday 6 April 2014

Hi my lovelies, it has been a while since my last post, my sincere apologies I have been quite the busy bee the past couple of weeks. I had a huge Oztag tag tournament and I also lost my home internet for around a week but I am back in the swing of things and couldn't be happier! I had a spare minute on Friday afternoon so I took full advantage to take a few snaps. I couldn't wait to show off my beautiful new top from Beginning Boutique in a size 6 which fits perfectly (making sure nothing unwanted pops out). This top can be styled many different ways to create an abundance of versatile looks which is what I always try to keep in mind when addding new clothes to my collection. Today though I wanted to keep it simple by going with all white pieces enabling the top to become the hero of this outfit.  I have been loving the all white trend that has been walking down the runways lately although I feel as though this is a timeless elegant look that will never go out of fashion.
