New Additions To My Closet

Sunday 16 March 2014

I love to shop there is no doubt about it and since we are now venturing into the cooler months I thought I'd pick up some pieces that are great for layering and some thing's I just couldn't resist. If you couldn't already tell I have been loving neutrals lately and have jumped on the leather and stripes trend! Recently I have noticed that not only is my closest full of clothes but that I don't have many staple items that are easy to style that every girl should own! As a result I acquired a few new things that I believe are versatile on trend pieces that still have a sense of quirkiness about them.

Firstly I was on the hunt for a new pair of jeans which means my favourite brand Ziggy denim. In the past I have found it a real struggle to find the perfect jeans but these are just the perfect fit! I got a plain black pair and also a distressed denim pair in a size 26. Both are slightly high waisted which I find most flattering on me and are just the right length.

I picked up two new crop tops that are perfect for layering under cardigans and jackets and just plain cute. One is nude with a overlapping cross over in the front from Beginning Boutique and the other a long sleeved striped mink pink crop from Universal Store

Continuing my love of monochrome stripes I have added this beautiful light weight jacket that I can not wait to wear! It will be perfect for the cool autumn breeze that has recently crept up on us and will also be great to layer for more warmth when winter hits. (I found this in a local boutique so unfortunately I don't have a link to this jacket however here is something similar). Speaking of layering, I found this chic black leather vest when I was walking past Cotton On the other day and was forced to try this on! It was love at first sight, I paired this with some faux black leather jeans and a plain white singlet in the dressing room which gave an effortless but super sleek look which I absolutely loved and of course I had to have it!

As for accessories, I have noticed myself only picking out all gold jewellery pieces, don't get me wrong I love myself some silver but I think I am fast becoming a gold obsessive. I scored big time on these two necklaces that were drastically reduced and believe these will be super versatile.

Last but not least I stumbled across these absolutely gorgeous white sandals from Valleygirl that were 50% off. I know right, exactly what I was thinking, how dare they tempt a shopaholic like that, they know I have no self control. In my defence these are a triple threat cute, comfy and casual and go with practically everything.

Reveiw: L'Oreal Telescopic Extra Black Mascara

Wednesday 12 March 2014

I picked up this mascara on my most recent trip to Priceline and couldn't wait to put this mascara to the test. After hearing rave reviews from many youtube beauty guru's I had very high expectations of this mascara, claiming to give dramatic length to lashes up to 60% more and boy was I blown away!

I have quite long lashes to begin with however this mascara takes it to the extreme resulting in a false lash effect. I wore this mascara to work the next day and was stopped by every woman in the office asking if I was wearing falsies. When I told them it was just a new mascara I was trying out, you too would have had a laugh if you could have seen the shock on there faces. As quickly as they had stopped me to check out my eyes just as fast they were all asking me for the name of this unbelievable product.

The formula itself is quite wet which I am not use to but works wonders with a rubber brush clustered with a lot of short bristles apparently 200 all up. It is super easy to apply with it's flexible brush head and surprisingly not a messy mascara considering the wet formula. This mascara dries on the lashes in no time at all and becomes very stiff while still being able to maintain the perfect curl that lasts all day.

The only criticism I have against this mascara is the removal, I found that this was a difficult task even with a great eye make-up remover. I was able to remove the majority after a lot of work although I discovered that there was still mascara stuck on my lashes which I can't stand!

Apart from the mascara latching onto my lashes and not budging, I have fallen in love with this absolute beauty. It noticeably opens up my eyes with little effort to create dramatic telescopic lashes that is definitely a head turner. It is one of the higher priced mascaras in the pharmacy retailing for $26.95 at Priceline but it is defiantly worth the investment.

Guide to: A Natural, No Makeup Look

Thursday 6 March 2014

Hello my pretties, I thought I'd share my go to 'no make-up'  make-up look, since I have been rocking this for most of February. As I work in an office 8 till 4 Monday through Friday I need a make-up attire that is quick, basic and nothing too extravagant (I'll save the smokey eye's for the weekends) for my everyday routine.

This look takes me all of 10 minutes to achieve which is record breaking for me, starting with my Garnier BB Cream in medium. I apply this with my hands as I believe this gives the best results, providing a light to medium coverage and natural finish. I then go in with my Covergirl & Olay Simplyageless Eye Concealer in 220 (Sadly discontinued, but can be found on ebay) to cover any blemishes, brighten up the under eye area and cover any visible dark circles. The concealer has a white swirl through the concealer which is infused with Olay's regenerist serum that hydrates the eye area leaving you with a fresh, wide awake complexion. Then comes the brows, which is a step I can never skip no matter how much of a rush I'm in! Maybelline's Master Shape Brow Pencil in blonde has been my product of choice when it comes to fast, effortless brows. This all in one tool was cleverly designed to equip a spooly brush on one end and a pencil on the other which is perfect for achieving tamed brows. For those natural but still eye popping lashes I can't go past my Covergirl Lashblast Volume Mascara. I can't say enough good things about this mascara except that you just have to try it for yourself, you won't be disappointed! This will forever be a favourite of mine that creates beautifully separated long lashes while still remaining quite natural. Lastly I apply my Dior Addict Lip Glow in 004 Coral that casts a gorgeous pink tint over the lips producing a 'your lips but better' colour. While also doubling as a balm that provides amazing moisture to chapped lips and as the name suggests gives a stunning glow to the lips.
